The Mainstay of Treatment
There is a range of methods to diagnose the presence of fibroids, including examination by a gynecologist, ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance imaging, and internal visualization of the uterus through a hysteroscope. All have varying degrees of accuracy, but the most complete and accurate is undoubtedly Magnetic Resonance imaging.
MR imaging shows the number, location, and size of the fibroids present in your body in addition to other data, such as blood flow to them, cellularity, and whether fibroids have dead cell areas.
Because pelvic MR imaging gives us clear and complete images of your lower abdomen and all pelvic structures (uterus, ovaries, bladder, sigmoid colon, hip bones, sacrum, and coccyx), we are able to make the most accurate diagnosis of the fibroid(s) present in your uterus and even report any other observable anomaly in the area.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging: The best diagnosis at the best price
Despite its advantages over other forms of diagnosis of fibroids, MR imaging is not used more often for the detection and assessment of fibroids because it is expensive.
